Some of it is clever, like holding down the x button to draw circle coming from your character to highlight lootable/interactable items in the vicinity. and it's just hard to somehow distill all those buttons into modifiers. Now I don't think it's a case of lazy devs (which I don't want to give the impression of) but rather this game was clearly developed for keyboard and mouse. The unfortunate result of all this is that you're going 2-3 menus deep at times to get to what you need. Even combat requires you to press down on the triangle button to access your action hotbar instead of pressing the related slot number on your keyboard. Hold R2 to bring up a radial menu for inventory/journal/character/equipment etc.

There's just too much going on with the inventory and UI in general that the only way to make it functional on a gamepad is to bury all the stuff in trigger modifiers. For the most part the game is as amazing as I remembered it but unfortunately the UI + controller just doesn't feel anywhere near as good as mouse and keyboard when it comes to navigating. On PC, I played through Act I before my rig basically just couldn't handle it anymore so I have a bit of comparison. I was in on the kickstarter campaign and actually have a PC copy of the game but I no longer have a gaming PC (just something no longer practical for me- Was running this game on my Intel Quadcore + 5850 ). I thought I'd add some of my thoughts for the PS4 version.
